Growing Herbs
Growing herbs can be learned and with some simple techniques, you will be
harvesting them in no time. For fun or profit, all you need is a little space
and some patience.
Growing herbs has many advantages, you will have your favorite remedies
available in your garden or even indoors. They are fairly inexpensive to grow,
and most herbs thrive without much attention. If you use a medicine frequently,
then you will be saving a lot of money having the remedy grow naturally in your
house. Replacing a commonly used medicine with a natural treatment will bring
less side effects, or even have non at all. This is one of the differences
between herbs and natural remedies, a medicine will concentrate on relieving
symptoms of your ailment, but doesn't care if the side effects are sometimes
worse than the illness it's curing. Herbs are soft on the stomach and have
different reactions throughout the body, not only in a certain place. This is a
weakness, science says, but herbalists believe this is their biggest strength,
all organs are closely connected, you will have a better chance of healing the
liver by improving the blood cells and making the digestion healthier, for
example.
Also, many herbs are more powerful freshly cut, and you will only have to
walk in the garden and pick what you need. Fresh herbs are also easier to chop
than died herbs.
Prepare your garden with the kind of seeds you are going to plant. If you
want herbs that need a lot of light you will look for a spot where there is
abundant sun. Other herbs, that will die with excessive sunlight should be
placed in the shade. This might sound like obvious, but many herbs that need
shade in tropical regions for example, should be placed in direct sunlight in a
cooler climate. In very cold climate, if you have few plants, it's advised to
take your herbs inside and let them there during the winter. Many herbs will dry
completely but will grow from ground level once the rainy season begins.
Many herbs grow on seeds, with others you will need a live stem to grow the
plant. Most seeds are available through the internet, and this will be a good
choice if you are growing herbs to start your own business. Herbs need water to
flow freely and quickly, the soil should be rich but not in excess, as too much
nutrients will be worse than too little.
